1. Chief Pharmacist

Responsibilities
The Chief Pharmacist will be responsible to the Director through the Deputy Director, Clinical Services for the following:-
* Supervision of all staff in the Department of Pharmacy.
* Formulation of policies on drug" use in the Hospital in liaison with other relevant departments.
* Planning and implementation of other policies that will improve the output of the Pharmacy Department in the Hospital and generally be responsible for organization, control and coordination of Pharmaceutical services in the Hospital.
* Ensure compliance, by prescribers and dispensers, to the Hospital Drug Formulary.
Requirements for appointment
* Possess a Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized University.
* Be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board as a Pharmacist.
* Should have served as Deputy Chief Pharmacist or equivalent position for at least three (3) years and shown outstanding administrative qualities and a high degree of capability and professional competence in organizing and running of Pharmaceutical services including monitoring the quality of drugs in a Hospital setting.
* He/she should have a relevant post-graduate degree in Pharmacy, such as, clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmaceutics.
* A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration will be an added advantage.
* Should have knowledge and experience in ISO Quality Management Systems.
* Must be well versed with Information and Communication Technology.
2. Chief Nurse

Key responsibilities
This is a Senior Management position, reporting to the Director through the Deputy Director, Clinical Services, for the following:-
* Participating in all activities associated with the achievement of all Hospital's goals and objectives.
* Directing, planning and coordinating all nursing services in the Hospital.
* Formulation and implementation of policies and standards of nursing care
* Promotion and Maintenance of discipline among nursing personnel.
* Advice on procurement of nursing equipment, supplies and appliances.
* Ensure quality training of Health care professionals is undertaken at the MTRH Training Centre.
* The overall deployment, training and development of nursing personnel in the Hospital.
* Running relevant Hospital programmes.
* Promote and establish research based nursing practice.
* Keep abreast of developments in nursing services and management nationally and internationally.
* Advise the Government and the Nursing Council of Kenya on matters relating to Nursing.
* Ensure sustenance of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Standard and other standards in the Hospital.
Requirements for appointment
* Possess a Bachelors and Masters degree in Nursing from a recognized Institution.
* Have served for at least four years in the Post of Deputy Chief Nurse or its equivalent in a tertiary Hospital of over 400 beds.
* Have shown a high degree of professional and administrative competence, as well as broad work experience in the formulation of Nursing policies and programmes aimed at enhancing delivery of Nursing services in the Organization.
* Have had a proven track record in the formulation of nursing policies at both local and national level.
* Have undergone various management trainings.
* Should have knowledge and experience in ISO Quality Management Systems.
* Must be well versed in Information and Communication Technology.
Salary Scales
* M3 - Kshs. 77,527 x 3,877 - 81, 404 x 4070 - 85,474 x 4,274 - 89,748 x 4,487 - 94, 235 x 4,712 - 98, 947 p.m.
* M4 - Kshs. 63, 782 x 3,189 - 66,971 x 3,349 -70, 320 x 3,516 - 73, 836 x 3,691 -77, 527x3,877-81,404 p.m.
* M6 - Kshs. 49,636 x 1,435 - 51,071 x 1,650 - 52,671 x 1,850 - 54,471 x 2,000- 56,471 x 2000 - 58, 671 x 2,400 - 61,071 x 2,600 x 63,671 p.m.
The above position will also attract other generous packages including a contributory pension scheme, house allowance, leave allowance and comprehensive medical cover.
